What else do you do when your stuck on a 200ft yacht, alone on the French Riviera???
You go fishing…
At least in my world. See, I’ve been fishing since I was a little girl. My grandfather had boats and on the weekends he would take the family out on the lake and sometimes the ocean and all I wanted to do was fish. Oh, and eat Vienna sausages out of the can. I know your probably thinking. GROSS! I was a kid. I didn’t know any better. Now, I put hot sauce on them. lol just kidding.
In the past years I’ve done some serious soul-searching to find out why I like fishing so much and what draws me to it. I think it has something to do with me also loving to gamble on slot machines. Its like testing your faith or something. You know the money is in the machine. You know that people before you have hit it big. You’ve even watched the person before you put a whole lot of money in the machine and not win. Its GOT TO BE my turn! I feel the same way about fishing. I know there’s plenty of fish out there. The captain says he sees them on the radar. Then you find out someone else was in the same spot on the same boat and caught a MARLIN. Well, maybe not a marlin but you know what I’m getting at. So your thinking today has GOT TO BE your day.
I call it my “FISHING FAITH”. That fishing faith will have your ass sitting out there in the same spot for hours. Oh and don’t have a case of Blue Ribbon and some Spicy potato chips. 😂
I still fish till this day. Not as much as I would like to. It gets hard to find people who like to fish. You gotta admit, it’s really not a cute girl hobby. My friends would rather be somewhere nice taking selfies. I do most things on my own anyway. That’s how I ended up on this dingy fishing on the French Riviera. 🐠🐟🐡🐬
Thank God these boats come with crew. Really strong crew to help me hold this HUMONGUS fish I caught and drive the boat. You know, the fight this fish gave me had me really thinking I had caught the BIG ONE! Kind of like falling in love with a guy and then being extremely disappointed if you catch my drift! hahahahahahahaha! 😂😂😂
I have to tell you, this was probably one of the greatest times of my life and one of the saddest. I had just lost someone really close to me and a good friend of mine offered to charter me this yacht for a week to get my mind off of things. I was so stressed. I had lost weight. No one around me had ever seen me at such a low point. I really appreciated this gift and it did help!
Whew! after all this emotion, I’m gonna need a drink Captain!
Man, I wish I could remember the really nice girl who worked on this boat who hung out with me and took almost all of my photos. The crew on this boat was sooooo amazing! Thank God I have so many friends in other countries. Especially the South of France. In the evenings I would take the dingy to shore and hang out with my friends at clubs or just have dinner. They came on the boat a couple of times as well. It was great!
Well, that’s my little fishing story. It’s about the size of the fish I caught. lol I also want to Thank all the crew of the then THUNDER GULCH. I heard they sold the boat and gave it a new name. Same crew??? I doubt it.
You know THUNDER GULCH was name after a prize-winning horse. I forgot the owner’s name but he would name all his boats after his horses or so the story goes. I don’t know if they were HIS horses or just prize winning horses. I do remember him being British. Any who,
God Bless the THUNDER GULCH!!!
Thanks for letting me share!
